Summers at Seven Bridge we explore writing by connecting to the ancient Greek muses, goddesses of the arts, guidance and inspiration. Our 9 meetings are twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, to keep the spark going.
During this summer’s class time, we call on each Muse in succession with an inspirational prompt. We will each write for 20 minutes, then read our piece. Another important component of this group is improving feedback skills, as we form our creative circle together. All reading and feedback is voluntary.
Our opening course, the Summer with The Muses @ Seven Bridge Writers’ Collaborative, employs the study of great writing to inspire us in this nine-week summer class.
GOALS
Before and during each class, writers have options of how to work with prompts. This class is foremost about ideas and creativity, and all choices are welcome. Choices include:
- write beforehand and bring that in for feedback,
- write beforehand and not bring that in, writing fresh in class,
- daydream about the Muse and prompt beforehand but not write until class,
- not think about anything at all til the morning we meet.
