Poetry Workshopping Class
with Rebecca L’Bahy

Sundays, September 13th through October 25th, 2020
2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Leominster Public Library, 30 West Street, Leominster, Massachusetts

please note that due to covid-19, this program WILL BE online.

This six-week poetry workshopping class is for anyone looking to learn the craft and experiment with various forms of poetry in a supportive environment. It will offer an opportunity to expand your knowledge of poetry and begin writing. In addition to your own poetry, we will read poems by contemporary poets, and explore different poetry prompts. Be prepared to give and receive constructive criticism and feedback, but do not worry if you have never written a poem before.

Rebecca L’Bahy currently works full time as a Title 1 tutor in Gardner MA. She is a Massachusetts native who has lived in Leominster for the past twenty years. In 1997 she *nearly* earned an MFA in creative writing with an emphasis on poetry from Emerson College, but a move to Central MA, and three young children, meant putting her degree on hold until 2017. Since then, she has been published in numerous journals since including Brain, Child, Halfway Down the Stairs, Mason Street Review, Writers Resist, Mom Egg Review and elsewhere. She has volunteered at the Mass Poetry Festival and was twice selected to workshop with Marge Piercy. She has participated in numerous workshops and creative writing classes including at Grub Street in Boston, Lesley University, and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, all the while wishing that she could find something closer to home! Last spring, she taught a poetry class at the Leominster library for ten weeks. Now, after discovering SBWC, she is excited to begin working with other aspiring poets in Central Mass.
